Primary School

Child Centred Learning

Welcome to Aspire Bilingual School where we are currently welcoming students from Pre-K to Grade 5. Building strong foundational skills is vital for student success and our Pre-K - KG2 program is designed to engage young minds and bodies through instructional play. Students are provided opportunities to explore math and science skills and concepts through direct instruction from teachers and by playing with their peers. English instruction is delivered in a literacy block that incorporates listening, speaking and drawing along with early reading and writing strategies and skills. Students leaving this program are well equipped with the basic reading, writing, speaking and math skills required to move into the more formalized instruction that begins in Grade 1.

Our Focus

The central focus of our primary program is to extend and refine the core skills and strategies learned in kindergarten. Our English instruction in language, math, science, social studies, music, art and physical education is designed to create knowledgeable and effective second language speakers, readers and writers. As a bilingual school, we also provide a strong Arabic language program to ensure that our students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to develop fluency in speaking, reading and writing their first language. Islamic instruction carefully follows a Ministry program designed to help young learners to learn about and understand its values and traditions.

At ABS we also offer opportunities for our students to learn outside of the traditional classroom. Our physical education, computer and library programs are designed to strengthen and broaden both mind and body.

Evaluating learning is a necessary and on-going part of the curriculum. Regular assessments enable teachers and students to monitor progress and modify instruction accordingly. In addition to a variety of classroom assessments, students also complete standardized MAP testing to assess their skills and knowledge in English, Math and Science.

As a parent, you are the first teacher your child sees and your foundational teachings are an important building block to your child’s growth and development. A strong parental involvement and relationship with school is vital to the overall success and achievement of your child and we welcome you as a strong advocate both for your child and within our school community. Please connect with us regularly so that we may work together to create the best possible learning environment for your child.
